And well hello there people… erm well I’m not exactly sure what the bloody hell to say about myself here, but I’ll start with the obvious… I’m Chris, 29 (I look younger though, believe me!) and I play piano/keyboards for the band (less of the rude backchat from you Lisa). I have loved music and been playing piano ever since I was about 7, so that’s a good long 20-odd years or so of hard labour, skilled technical wizardry and exceptional musical ears and talent! I’m classically trained, and studied music at Southampton University, where my degree course involved a wide variety of things including performance, composition & arranging, keyboard harmony, jazz history and improvisation, and various other aspects of music history etc. I haven’t done any serious classical playing since I finished my degree, so no requests for renditions of Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin or Rachmaninov etc or anything please, as I have gone slightly rusty in that department! Most of the rock/pop/jazz/soul/blues that I now play, I have picked up myself over the years, mainly by ear and just from listening to records and the radio/tv and stuff, which I continue to do. So I guess you could say I’m rather clever in that respect! I’m influenced by all sorts of different music styles from soul/motown and blues/jazz artists to people like Elton John and Billy Joel, and right through to mainstream rock/pop, classic 70s/80s/90s music (which includes a lot of cheesy stuff, which we all love of course) and current chart and dance stuff. I joined this bunch of idiots and jokers back in January 2007 after deciding to come down for a jam rehearsal session with them and try them out… and thank their lucky stars that we all clicked and so I decided to give them another chance haha, and now here I am, a fully fledged band member (oh dear, what have I got myself in for here?). I’m sure that without my presence in the band they would all be a damn sight worse off!... and of course it also gives me the utmost pleasure and opportunity to have lots of banter with the woman at the front of the stage in the black mini skirt and dodgy heels holding onto the microphone and give her a good old slap on the wrist for being a cheeky madam (and just for simply being in my way all the time)! I know she loves me really. And we also now have on board a wonderfully talented brass section to spice things up further, consisting of Tom and Nichola, who are both more than capable of blowing their own horns to an exceptional and demonstrably high standard, so to speak! Anyway, I think this has turned into more of a pointless rant than a short biography of my life, so it’s probably time for me to shut up… and maybe you’ll see us at one of our gigs… maybe with or without my shades on. And if you all haven’t got up dancing or begun to enjoy yourself and started tapping your feet by the end of our set, even if you happen to be in the foulest of moods, then you may need to start seriously considering that there might actually be something slightly wrong with you! Or else Lisa will come round and drag you up on your toes and make you sing and dance and help embarrass yourself in front of everybody hehe… just kidding. Come along and see us at one of our shows… the more of you the better… and you’ll be glad you made the effort, and in return we will kick arse and give you a great few hours entertainment. No silly ridiculous requests though, such as Jean Michelle Jarre (which needless to say I don’t even have a bloody clue how to play any of his stuff by the way)… otherwise I will give you evils! Apologies for the silly photos of myself on here, be it without my keyboard/organ… as big, heavy and expensive and precious as it is (sexual pun unintended there)… I had to pretend to be Spiderman instead and play an imaginary piano in mid-air, stupid as it sounds. Adios amigos and ta-ta for now ;-) Chris .
